April Creative Loops challenge is water

Today I’ve got lots of inspiration for our April challenge- water. The challenge topic (water) just needs to be a starting point for your inspiration so you could do a creative project made with water (ice sculpture anyone?) using water (dye fabric or yarn, watercolour etc.), featuring water, inspired by water (beaches, waterfall cardigans, mermaids)….anything you think is linked to water.

The Creative Loops challenge is for all types of creatives and is truly anything goes- art, mixed media, sewing, knitting, quilting, card making, paper-craft, cross-stitch, photography, altered art, creative writing, graphic design, floral design……if it is creative and inspired by the challenge theme you can join in. The idea is to connect and inspire creatives. We are a local group that meet weekly but anyone is welcome to join the challenge and link up their project.

Feel free to add any ideas and to chat about inspirations in the comments. I always appreciate knowing someone is reading.

Here is an inspiration board of ideas you could use with the links listed below. Links with tutorials or patterns are shown with a *. Links to items which you could buy are shown with **

Please add your finished projects at the bottom of this post.

What a great challenge, Elaine – I love the open-ended theme of water! The sea is a particular favourite of mine, and seahorses espdially – I am always amazed at the diversity of marine life, and how inspiring it is for an artist. I need to spend some time looking at all the beautiful pieces featured on your blog on this post. Just gorgeous!

Thank you for your great comment – it’s strange how we are often in parallel with our plans and projects, isn’t it! I was thinking that when I saw your cake decorating one. I recently tried to decorate a cake (somewhat disastrously!) – I’ve been watching a lot of Youtube vids on it recently and am bowled over by the consummate skill of some people! I’ve had a somewhat strange day today and haven’t yet managed to get into the studio but hopefully I will later, and make a stat on my narrow boat painting. I’d love to see what you come up with, too – so glad I re-inspired you to get going! I’ve had that problem, decoratin boxes only to find that the lid won’t go on afterwards! It’s a real “duh” moment… Today I posted about our lovely garden as it was such a gorgeous sunny day and it was all worth photographing. Hop over and have a look!!

Hope you are having a good week.

Thanks for another lovely comment, Elaine, and well done remembering the flowers I cut with Sheba – it’s been several years since she’s been working!! As for the painted flowers, I am inclined to agree with you and quite like the way the yellow turns green over the darker background. If I think of it as a development of the original art form I don’t feel so bad about it not being as it should be lol!! Thanks for the encouragement!
