Day 5 of my Pattern A Day 100 day challenge

Day 5 of my Pattern A Day 100 day challenge

I’ve made a pattern with ink today for the fifth day of my 100 day challenge today over at the 100daysproject. There are lots of interesting projects to see over there (use the search icon to find them) You can find out more about my individual challenge on my day 1 post here.

I started with Sheena Douglass Stamping Cardand brushed Spun Sugar Distress ink around the edges.

I used my pink ZIG Art and Graphic Twin Watercolour pen on my mat with some water spritzed on it and then brushed it across the card to give a stripy watercolour effect.

I had cut a chevron stencil from sticky vinyl and stuck the waste this card to make the zig zag pattern. I then sponged Picked Raspberry distress ink on the top left and bottom right and brushed Dusty Concord distress ink
and Peacock Feathers distress inkacross.

I then used the same distress inks with a grungy flower stamp (free with a magazine and I don’t know the manufacturer) to create an additional layer of pattern.

I also added my usual copyright information etc. using CraftArtist 2 Professional.

Day 4 of A Pattern A Day (my 100 day challenge)

The fourth day of my 100 day challenge today over at the 100daysproject. You can find out more about my individual challenge on my day 1 post here.

Today I’m having a high pain low energy day so I decided to take a quick photo of the pattern made within an allium seed head in my garden. It makes me think of a sunburst. I added my usual copright using CraftArtist 2 Professional.

The third day of my 100 day challenge today over at the 100daysproject. It is inspiring seeing all the different creative projects people are doing so do go and look. You can find out more about my individual challenge on my day 1 post here.

Today I tried something quite different for me. Although I do quite a lot of hybrid crafting and mixed media I rarely focus on digital art. Icreated the various digital components, including the background and then manipulated, arranged and coloured them using CraftArtist 2 Professional. I also added my usual copyright information etc.

My 100 day challenge- Pattern A Day 2

My 100 day challenge- Pattern A Day 2

The second day of my 100 day challenge today over at the 100daysproject. There are lots of interesting projects over there. Find out more about my individual challenge on my day 1 post here.

Today I drew some patterns that I will be using in my colouring calendar I sell. I start by drawing the outlines- leaves today. Then I study the subject- in this case it was easy as I have lots of different types of leaf in my garden.

Pattern a day leaves

I design patterns based on the patterns I can see in the subject.

I used my Sakura Micron pensfor the drawing (there are various nib sizes allowing a range of fine lines and they are archival quality).

It takes me a couple of hours to complete three leaves due to the detail. The artwork for the calendar is completely hand drawn so each month takes a few days. For the sake of this challenge I’ve taken a photo of the leaves I completed today and then manipulated them digitally using CraftArtist 2 Professional to produce a complete project. I also added my usual copyright information etc.

100 day challenge- a Pattern A Day

100 day challenge- a Pattern A Day

I am starting a 100 day challenge today over at the 100daysproject. Do head over there to have a look at the various projects.

My challenge is PAD- a pattern a day. This will be quite a flexible project due to my wide range of creative interests! My aim is to spend time every day on a creative project involving creating or using a pattern- drawing/ painting patterns, photographing patterns, creating patterns digitally, sewing with patterns or crafting using pattern. I am going to tie this in with getting started on instagram elaine_achelois. Lots for me to learn with this.

For my first PAD I wanted to create a title page for my project. I created the text on the computer using open letters for PAD and then printed it onto graphics paper. I then drew the patterns to decorate the title page and fill in PAD. The patterns are based on henna patterns. I used my Sakura Micron pensfor the drawing (there are various nib sizes allowing a range of fine lines and they are archival quality).

Please cheer me on with my challenge and follow me on instagram if you are over there (any pointers are welcome).

Summertime Scrapbook page

I made this Summertime scrapbook layout digitally using CraftArtist 2 Professionaland the Fairytales Summer digikit. I find this a good way to make pages quickly and it is easy enough to get them printed as 12×12 online or at my local printers. I’ve swapped out my personal photos for stock photos for privacy reasons (I can never decide whether it looks too weird blurring faces to maintain privacy….what do you think? Blurred faces or use stock photos?). One of the things I love about Summer is walking and playing in the woods- as a child I loved exploring and climbing trees. The shade and coolness on a hot day is wonderful.

I used the layout from the Stick It Down challenge.

A lot of the time when I start a project I feel overwhelmed by choices and my brain flits round lots of creative possibilities and quite often it seems to freeze at that point. Using challenges such as a layout challenge helps me to focus but still have lots of creative options.

I would like to enter the following challenges

Using Santoro Mirabelle papers for some bunny love!

Using Santoro Mirabelle papers for some bunny love!

I absolutely love all the Santoro papers- I think it is because they are good quality, have great patterns and subtle sparkle. The front covers are also works of art by themselves…simply stunning.

They are the kind of papers that tend to sit unused because you can’t bear to cut them up and then worse give them away! My SANTORO Mirabelle Pad had the perfect papers for our challenge theme of stars and stripes this month with the unusual star background paper so I decided to use them for a very special anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law.

Santoro Mirabelle for Bunny anniversary

I keep forgetting to mention that I tend to work on scalloped 8×8″ square card blanks. The papers are all from the Mirabelle pad and I matted onto pink card and then used Tattered Rose distress stickles glitter glue around the edges. I made the topper using CraftArtist 2 Professional using an image from the digikit WH Stamps 1. I added pearl gems.

I’d like to enter the following challenges

Creative Loops Challenge- Stars and Stripes

Hanna and Friends– Animals

As You Like It– Favourite papers and why

4 Crafty Chicks– Your favourite designer/paper/company

Simply Create Too– Lots of Sparkle

Thanks for reading and for any comments…they really brighten up my day.

Pearls in my hair by A Day For Daisies- pretty in pink.

Pearls in my hair by A Day For Daisies- pretty in pink.

Our Creative Loops Challenge here this month is stars and/or stripes. This is my first card for the challenge using the beautiful digi called Pearls In My Hair from Day For Daisies. It is a birthday card for my lovely sister in law.

BirdsinherhairSally1

The stripe and floral papers were from the Victorian Roses by Make & Create. All the layers were matted onto pink card and the card was distressed using my Tim Holtz distress tool. I used a lovely translucent shimmery ribbon. All of these were from my extensive stash :-). I added three star gems and also some flowers from wild orchid crafts to embellish the card.

I used Craft Artist to create the top layer with the digi stamp and coloured the image using Promarkers.
