Inspired by chocolate

Inspired by chocolate

Who wouldn’t be inspired by chocolate! When I saw this inspiration photo for The Pink Elephant challenge I had to try the challenge.

Yum, yum!! I picked another sketch from Make My Monday to help me in my quest to get better at CAS cards

So here is my card for today

I designed the card using CAP so I could keep to one layer and keep the costs down! I used pearlescent card and then rounded the card corners and paper cormers. I colour matched all the elements to the inspiration photo. I added a pink lace border to echo the doily in the photo. I cut out a small section of the sprinkles on chocolate to make the background paper- enlarged it and made it slightly transparent. I then selected a section of the photoand acolour matched a frame around the outside to get the 3 squares. I added the 3 butterfly embellishments. I then copied a section of chocolate with the pink drizzles, enlarged it and made it into a heart shape.
I added a couple of real embellishments to make it pop! I added glossy accents to the heart and 4 gems. To me it is a CAS card but I’ll probably find it isn’t!!

Time to push myself out of my comfort zone and do some CAS cards for a change. I thought I’d use this great sketch to help me from Fetch a Sketch.

I saw the gorgeous inspiration photo at JUGS and I thought I might as well really push myself with an unusual colour combo too.

I’m not sure I’m that keen on the result but here it is!!

I designed it using CAP and kept it to one layer but designed it so it looks like a couple (saves money 😉 ) I loved the JUGs photo so much that I decided to use the idea of hanging wooden frames. I colour matched everything to the colours in the JUGs photo. I used an emboss and sewn effects on the text.
I added four photos I’ve taken of water lilies. I adjusted them to look sketched in black and white. I then used lime and silver star Sakura pens to outline and colour the images so they’d match my colour scheme and to give the card some pop.

A slightly different style so honest comments appreciated!

Hi everyone!
It feels a bit weird posting this card having just watched the Lance Armstrong interview with Oprah. I have a nephew who loved the Olympics and is a fan of cycling. This Lili of the Valley digi was perfect for his birthday card and I made a voucher holder to match.

I think the papers are die cut were from Papermania. Lots of layers and Kraft card which I think can help add to the boy feel.
I added background colour to the LOTV die cut by daubing distress inks onto it.
I went for a single paper for the inside.

The sentiment stamp is also LOTV- I do love their circular sentiments.

This is the holder I made for the voucher. I clipped the crown and ribbon (recycled from a gift I received) to the voucher to pull it out like a tag.

And this is the back!

New year, new digi- rockin’!

New year, new digi- rockin’!

First card post of the year. Thanks so much for reading my blog. I really appreciate all the comments I get and it is lovely to feel part of a community.

A birthday card for a music lover. I designed the card using Craft Artist and Nitwit digital papers and embellishments. I find male cards quite difficult but hopefully this hits the spot.

I coloured using Pro and flexmarkers. A very different set of colours for me.

I decorated the inside using a similar layout to match.

Rose Red for mum

Rose Red for mum

The lovely Krista was kind enough to do another free pre-release for her followers and as ever Rose Red is beautiful. Just the think I needed for a card for my mum.

I used another wonderful Graphicat Sketch- I love using their sketches as they help make me more creative and find my mojo!

I made the papers and elements using Craft Artist. The edges of the card are inked with spun sugar distress ink.

The flowers are from wild orchid crafts. A few of the flowers are my first attempt at colouring white flowers with glimmer mists and inks to match the cards. Had to include some daffodils as mum loves them.

I used Pro and Flexmarkers to colour Rose Red. I then highlighted some areas with pearlescent ink so  of the dress and hair so it shimmers when it catches the light. The picture below gives some idea of how that looks in real life in the right light.

I made a matching inside.

and it also needed a box.

I’m not sure I fancy this.

I’m not sure I fancy this.

I spent ages on this but although I love this digi (Fancy by Saturated Canary) I’m really not happy with my colouring etc today. Just having one of those days I guess! Can’t be bothered to put up tons of photos!

I was working to a great sketch by Inspired by Stamping I just don’t think I did it justice. I designed my papers using Craft artist and colour matched them to the beautiful pallette at the Play Date Cafe.
I loved their pictures as well so I decided to use flowers, velvet ribbon and rope on my card from the photos- I doodled the rope and swirls using Sakura pens onto a paper I made using a photo of velvet ribbon. The poor colouring was with Promarkers! The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I coloured the pearls with Promarkers

Happy autumn dragon

Happy autumn dragon

I love this digi from Wee Stamps. I decided to go with an easel card for a change today and used a sketch by Everybody Art Challenge. I don’t make many autumnal cards as I don’t really have cards I need to send at this time of year. However, I wanted to make a card for a friend who is having a tough time so inspired by the Papercraft Star photo I decided to go for autumn colours.

I made the papers and embellishments with Craft Artist. I colour matched everything to the Papercraft Star photo. I used a leaf embellishment with a stamp effect using the key colours from the picture to make the background papers. I added a leaf doodle patter on the bottom right and went over it with my Sakura copper star pen.

I added 2 pieces of web material which I coloured using a variety of pearlescent inks in matching colours.

I coloured the image with promarkers. I used pearlescent inks to highlight the dragons cheeks, chest and tummy. I used glaze pen on the berries, his tongue and his eyes.

This photo shows the leaf doodling a little better.

A pirate gains a brother!

A pirate gains a brother!

Two makes for you tonight. A matching card and treat box to celebrate becoming a big brother! I designed everything based around a couple of photos where the recipient is dressed as a pirate using Craft Artist. I added a pirates hat to the baby and an eye patch to the recipient (as usual faces blurred for privacy)

On of the amazing things with Craft Artist is the way you can create the shadows- it really helps make it look like the boys are in my scene! It also adds dimension but with only 1 layer which helps if you are looking out for postage costs! The edges of the card are inked with distress ink.

I then altered a wooden box to make a pirate treasure chest for some treats. I painted the box with blue pearlescent ink. All the papers were designed on Craft Artist and were decoupaged on using Mod Podge. This is the top of the box.

I added some plastic gold coin trim around the outside.

Inside the top lid.

In the base…

Then full of treausre!!

Can I meet the deadline?

Can I meet the deadline?

I have put this together in about an hour- when I saw the sketch at the crafting when we can sketch challenge I just had to go for it! I grabbed some left over digital papers I had printed together with a matching freebie I had out from a previous card.Of course grabbing things on my desk this month has to involve pink!

The rose papers were made digitally and the damask paper was a freebie. My mat was pearlescent card with blended pink distress ink and then stamped with a damask stamp and flocked.
The image is a Lili of the valley die cut but I recoloured the dots on the dress, shoes, bag, flower and background with pro and flexmarkers to match the card colours.

The ribbon was from stash and was coloured with Promarker to match the image- pink ribbon for the stamping boutique challenge.  I added 3 pearls to the top corner, coloured with the same Promarker, and 3 flowers from Wild Orchid Craft to the bottom corner for a little embellishment.

I made the inside to match.

Holly birthday!

Holly birthday!

I wanted to make a Winter birthday card for a change. I used a sketch from Sketch Saturday and the Sylvia Zett digi Holly. This picture gives you an idea of the sparkle and shine when it catches the light!

The papers are from Nitwits  and I used a red glaze pen and Lime star pen to give them some extra zing by colouring the berries and leaves around the outside. I used Peeled paint distress ink around the edges of the card.

I designed the sentiment on Craft Artist and then highlighted the words with lime star pen. I used a ribbon from stash and coloured gems with flexmarker. I’ve taken a close up without flash. I coloured with Promarkers and flexmarkers. I also used my Sakuras over the top of the Promarkers but the effects of these show up better in the other photos with flash! I used a red glitter pen for the hair band, blue stardust for the wings, red glaze for the berries, white souffle and silver star for the snow and metallic red for the bells.

I made a single layer inside using maching elements.
